2011 – West Toronto Diamond Rail-to-Rail Grade Separation
Metrolinx
This high-profile project included three rail-to-rail grade separations of railway diamond crossings, a storm water pumping station and retention pond, retaining walls and construction of three additional GO rail tracks. Grascan coordinated the sliding of 4 massive concrete bridge structures into place over four separate weekends in order to minimize the downtime for train traffic. Grascan used innovative technology to meet stringent project deadlines for Metrolinx.
This project involved the separation of Canada’s oldest and busiest rail-to-rail crossing and the only location in the country that CP and CN rails had previously intersected at grade!
